How to make a vector traffic light using gradient tool in Adobe Illustrator

How to make a vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator

Here another amazing tutorial on gradient tool operation in adobe illustrator. In this tutorial, with the gradient tool we will be creating a vector traffic  light.

Here is the final image

traffic light

Program :- adobe illustrator
Topic      :- gradient tool, appearance panel, pattern tool, shape tool, swatches
Time       :- 45 minutes

Main body

Step 1: choose rectangle tool to drag out the rectangle.

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>

Step 2: Fill it with the gradient yellow
            RGB:242,211,110 RGB:234,196,79  RGB:197, 156, 45

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>

Step 3:  Draw a square and fill it with the shown gradient.
Choose effect> stylize>outer glow and set the preference as shown. This will give a shadow                look to the box.

Bolt making

Step 4: choose ellipse tool and draw a circle by holding shift key. Fill it with the gradient.

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>

Light making

Step 4: copy the circle paste it front and fill it with white and black gradient. Draw a circle in front of it with small radius and fill it with red radial gradient.

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>

Select the circle and choose effect>stylize>outer glow. Fill the preference as mine.

Step 5: simple filled red color won’t look good so fill it with the pattern swatches

red light

Step 6 : Follow the step 2,3,4,5 to make yellow ,green light.

Making of side light parts

Step 7: on to the side cones. Draw a rect. angle and fill it with shown gradient. using the pen tool, draw the side cone shape. Then fill it with custom gradient, as shown in the image below. Copy and paste it for the next five places.

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>
side part

Step 8: let’s make the side bolts. Using the pen tool, make the shape of side bolt and fill it with gradient. Place it in front of side cones. Paste it at all five places.

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>

Step 9 : Using pen tool, draw the shape at  the top part of the light and fill the gradient. Make an offset of -2px and fill it with using eyedropper.
Choose effect>stylize>outer glow and set the preference.

<img scr ="vector-traffic-light-gradient-tool.jpg" alt="how to make vector traffic light using gradient tool in adobe illustrator"/>

Conclusion
That’s it. Now we have a detailed illustration of a traffic light made up with simple tool like gradient tool, outer glow and shape tool.

How to design a perfect diamond in adobe illustrator using gradient tool

what we are creating

Program :- adobe illustrator

Topic :- gradient tool, appearance panel, star tool eye dropper

Time :- 30 minutes

If you are insane for stone and stone jewellery, then go through this article. In adobe illustrator, drawing a vector diamond is pretty. Throughout this tutorial I’ll use the diamond artwork; you can make it of own or download from the link shown at the end of this tutorial.

I will use this as a guide to help use create a perfect diamond

Basic part

Step 1:- Go to file>new. Now open the source file diamond.ai .

Step 2:- Select any of the facet and fill with the linear gradient as shown. Follow the same with all the rest of the facet and use the eyedropper tool  to fill.

After applying gradient tool, this artwork is like this only. This is not the diamond, so time to improve it.

Step 3:- Now select the whole artwork and remove the stroke.

Step 4:-Select the gradient tool and click and change the orientation for each facet. Do until you get this.

Drawing the girdles

Step 5:- Select the rectangle tool and draw a rectangle that meets all the four points of the girdle edges. Use selection tool and meet the point to cover the missing part. Choose rectangle .right click>arrange>sent to back

.

Finishing touch

Step 6:- Without shining diamond is incomplete within itself. Choose star tool, without releasing the mouse, use arrow up/down key to add additional point. Hold the cntrl key and drag inward to increase the radius, so as to have a sparkling effect.

Here is the final image of your work. Enjoy it.

How to design an honeycomb in adobe illustrator

the final image w'll get

Program:- adobe illustrator

Topic:- effect, pathfinder, appearance panel,  hexagon tool, gradient tool, Shapebuilder, pathfinder, pen tool, shear tool

Time : 15 minutes

  • 1.       The base part

Step 1:- choose the polygon Tool create hexagon with 60 px radius in dark yellow ( R=147                               G=104 B=20 ).

Step 2:- To create a border behind hexagon, choose object>path>offset path and enter -6px.

Step 3:- Apply  linear gradient to the offset hexagon. Set the gradient as shown-

 2 The  Rendering part

1.       Use ellipse tool, draw a circle covering lower half of hexagon. Apply gradient as shown.

2.       Select shape builder tool, and remove the uncovered circular area.

3.       Now draw two overlapping circle and add them using pathfinder. Delete the non-intersecting component from the inner hexagon. Set the option as shown-

4.       Draw the rectangle with rectangle tool at the bottom and two at the both sides as shown. Use shear tool to adjust the side of rectangle. Use gradient tool to fill.

5.        Now same procedure for upper three sides of hexagon. Fill the colour as shown.

6.       Now using selection + alt do the copy to do the copy if the image of rectangle and set the gradient.

How to use Blend Tool in illustrator

Blend Tool  used to create and distribute impressive colour evenly between two objects. It can create blends of colour between two objects and to create colour transitions in the shape of a particular object. To perform blend operation, two object is needed.

After blend operation, the blended object is treated as a single object. It means that any operation on any of the object will be reflected on the whole blended tool.

How to create blend tool operation

1.      Make two objects. Select any of the as starting one.
2.      Now, select blend tool but avoid selecting anchor point. Object> blend> make.

Blend Tool Option

i.                     Double-clicking blend tool  or
ii.                   Choose Object> Blend> Option.

a.       Spacing – types of steps to  be added in blend operation
1.        Smooth color – this is auto calculated. It generate impressive solid fill colour between two objects.
2.       Specified steps – it sets number of steps between start and stop objects at a specified distance.
3.       Specified distance – it sets the specified distance between any two adjacent objects.

b.      Orientation :-
              1.    Align to page . orients the blend perpendicular to x-axis of page.
              2.   Align to path. Orient the blend perpendicular to the path.

Other operation of blend tool

a.      Expand :- this option used to convert the blended object into distinct objects. Complete blended object work as isolate object to perform specified operation on each object.

b.      Replace spine :- to remove the path along which the steps in a blended object are aligned. Select object and blended object. Choose object> blend > replaced spine

c.       Reverse spine :-  change the orientation of blend operation.

Note:. Spine – path along which the steps in a blended object are aligned. Default straight path.
